New Sony PSP-3000 is coming

The new features for the Sony PSP-3000 are the built-in mic, Skype software and a brighter LCD screen. The new PSP-3000 will retail for 199 Euro (a price increase over the 169 Euro), and although it has only been announced for European markets, expect it to make its way state-side before too long.

Sony also announced a new updated Playstation 3, featuring a larger 160GB hard drive. The new console will be retailing for  449 Euro and will come bundled with a 70Euro credit for downloadable content via the Playstation Network. It will hit European shelves on October 31.

Xbox 360 gets friendly

Microsoft looks poised to add a Facebook/Friends Reunited social networking facility to the Xbox 360, when it updates the console’s dashboard later this year.

Dubbed Friends of Friends (FoF), the service will allow gamers to find old chums or connect with new ones over Xbox Live!, Microsoft said. It will also allow users to check out the profiles of friends of friends, send messages, invite people to join games and compare achievement stats.

Need for Speed ProStreet – Download Demo

From the beginning, ProStreet was meant to be a more authentic and visceral driving experience than we’d ever produced before. The game needed to be believable and give you the same, sweaty palms, seat-of-the-pants, adrenaline rush that you get racing. It’s scary to go fast. It takes all of your focus, skill, and attention to keep a car under control at race speeds- and if you lose focus bad things happen, fast. Did we really capture the experience of racing? The game felt realistic, but how real is ‘real’? Last week I travelled to the Mojave Desert north of Los Angeles to find out.nsf

Need for Speed ProStreet has drifted its way into stores and is now available at all major retailers! Race to get your hands on one of the most anticipated games of the year.

DivX Support Coming to Xbox 360

DivX followed up Tuesday night’s earnings report with a presentation at the JP Morgan SmMid cap conference. JP Morgan analyst Paul Coster coyly probed Kevin Hell about whether or not we were about to see DivX support on the Xbox 360. The question seemed to catch Hell off guard, and while his initial reaction was enthusiasm, there was something about his tone that suggested that Coster might be onto something.

Here is the exchange verbatim, but in order to appreciate the awkwardness of the exchange, you should really listen to the quote at the 24 minute mark of the presentation and make your own decision as to whether or not you hear a sense of urgency in Hell’s response. Continue reading

Street Fighter 4- Teaser Trailer

Capcom has confirmed the development of Street Fighter 4 at an event in London.

Very little solid information about the game has been given; not even the platforms upon which the game will appear. However, this trailer should be more than enough to send the hardcore fighting game fans out there crumbling to their knees in awestruck anticipation.

Now, let’s get to that trailer.
